He was born Dec. 24, 1928, in Knightsville, to Lenard Arthur and Jane (Wallace) White.
Ben was a 1947 graduate of Spencer High School. He served in the National Guard.
He worked as a project supervisor for INDOT for 48 years, attended Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church, was a member of the Owen County Conservation Club, enjoyed puzzle books and was a perfectionist.
Ben is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ruthanna (Thacker) White, son Stephen (Teresa) White, Poland, daughter Susan (Fred) Rumple, Spencer, grandchildren Mindy (Kevin) Pemberton and Brandi (Corey) Mauder, and great-grandchildren Evan and Ethan Pemberton and Ian Mauder.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service will take place at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011, at West and Parrish and Pedigo Funeral Home, with Elder Jimmie Clemmer, Elder Todd Durnil and Jimmie Durnil officiating.
Entombment will follow at Chambersville Cemetery.
Friends may call Monday, Oct. 24, from 4-8 p.m., and Tuesday, from 11 a.m., until the time of the service.
