Holiday needs at Food Pantry

Sunday, October 23, 2011

To the Editor:

As you know, the holiday season is quickly approaching and we volunteers at the Clay County Emergency Food Pantry would like to ask your help in making the holiday season a good time of the year for the local families of the low income, disabled and unemployed people.

This has been a very hard year for the pantry to provide for the community as the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has not given us the money they usually do to buy food for the pantry.

Many churches, individuals and clubs have helped us tremendously to keep food stocked for the needy, but our supplies are low and our funds are shrinking.

Items needed most are: Canned milk, canned vegetables, sugar, cereal, peanut butter, jelly, dish soap, laundry soap, shampoo, bath soap, toilet paper and tooth paste.

Of course, we always need meat, ground beef, chicken, hot dogs, bologna and smoked sausage and a donation of money would be ideal for these meats as they are always kept frozen.

We appreciate any help you can give us this coming season.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Ruth Haas and all the volunteers at the pantry
