Haunted House open Friday

Sunday, October 23, 2011

This year, the Clay County Christmas In The Park organization celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Manor House, located at 3546 E. CR 100 S., Center Point.

Community members are invited to help them celebrate by visiting Night at the Manor V: A Century of Fright.

Patrons can be scared out of their minds Friday, from 8-11 p.m.

In addition, the manor will be open until midnight Saturday, Oct. 29.

Tickets are $10 each, with proceeds going to Clay County Christmas In The Park.

However, the event is not child friendly.

Christmas In The Park Board President Linda Ray told The Brazil Times the manor has, "Four floors of terror and a maze that will surely get you lost."

Ray added visitors might walk through the old asylum jail and boiler room.

"The manor has a lot of history and is an authentic haunted house, with lots of paranormal activity," Ray said.

Guests may also enjoy refreshments during the visit.

The website, www.nightatthemanor.com, recommends adults not bring their small children.

The Manor is located where the former Macnell Nursing Home used to be.

Residents wishing to get there from Brazil may take State Road 59 south past the 59/46 intersection, turn left at County Road 100 S., travel approximately three miles and the manor is on the right hand side of the road.

"Enter at your own risk," Ray said. "We're not responsible for accidents."

Those wishing to be a part of the frightful theatrics or anyone who has questions may contact Ray at 446-1811.
