Candidate counting on past experiences

Wednesday, October 26, 2011

My name is Mary Fisher, and I would very much like to serve the community as your next City Clerk-Treasurer.

I am a lifelong resident of Clay County. After graduating from Van Buren High School in 1971, I worked at the State Unemployment Office for 15 years.

Later, I worked at West Central Indiana Economic Development District, Inc., for 15 years.

There, I successfully managed budgets according to state guidelines and provided project updates with balanced budget sheets to a governing Board of Directors on a monthly basis.

For the past six years, I have been the sole proprietor of Goodies Galore.

It is a family business, and I am very fortunate to have a terrific family base to carry on with the diner so that, if elected, I can devote myself to the Clerk-Treasurer's office full-time.

It is through my work at WCIEDD and running my own business, I know very well the importance of keeping an accurate account of each separate entity of a budget.

It is my goal as City Clerk-Treasurer to maintain each city department during these present difficult economic times be it through finding new funding resources not yet tapped, to utilizing the present funding to the maximum ability with minimal waste.

It is this kind of knowledge and experience I would like to bring to the City Clerk-Treasurer's office as well as clarity and accountability to the service of the citizens of Brazil.

I would appreciate your support Nov. 8.
