William M. Walter, 70, Center Point, passed away at 12:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, in his residence.
He was born in Terre Haute, Jan. 7, 1941, to Lee Walter and Margaret Campbell Walter.
He is survived by his wife Penelope Walter, son Robert Walter, Morgantown, W. Va., and daughter Katherine Songer (and husband Aaron), Huntingburg, Ind.
Also surviving are two grandchildren Jude Songer and Madeline Songer, brother Edward Walter, Center Point, and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother James Walter.
He retired as newsroom mailer, having worked for both the Indianapolis Star and Terre Haute Tribune-Star.
His memberships included the Annunciation Church in Brazil, Terre Haute Knights of Columbus, and Brazil American Legion Post 2, and he was also a veteran of the Indiana National Guard.
Mass of Christian burial will be at Annunciation Church Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011, at 2 p.m., with Father Harold Rightor officiating.
Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011, from 4-8 p.m., in Callahan-DeBaun Funeral Home, 2425 Wabash Ave., Terre Haute.
