Since 1987, Clay County residents have had something to be proud of.
The Northview Marching Knights.
Since 1987, the Marching Knights have appeared in the finals of the Indiana State School Music Association marching events.
On Saturday, the Marching Knights made it 24-straight seasons of state finals appearances.
For that matter, Northview has made it to the ISSMA state finals every year the school has existed with the exception of one.
During this incredible run, the Marching Knights have rattled off eight first-place finishes.
This year, NMK placed fourth overall as Concord won its first ISSMA state title since 2005.
There are a total of 33 bands that classify for ISSMA's Class B.
Only 10 make it to the state finals every year. Northview's achieved that for 24 years in a row.
This gives Clay County residents all reason to believe they'll make it next year.
And the year after that. And the year after that ...
The Brazil Times wants to extend a congratulation to the Northview Marching Knights and staff.
It's a pleasure to cover the Marching Knights, year in and year out.
It's a pleasure to discuss the season with the students, the staff, Bob and Ruth Ann Medworth, etc.
The group -- from top to bottom -- is a class act.
Hats off to the students, the staff, the school. Hats off to Clay County.
Every year, the Marching Knights give us something to hold on to.
Two months of entertainment. Two months of joy.
Indeed, something to be proud of.
