A woman was transported via Air Evac to Methodist Hospital following an accident Monday morning.

At approximately 9:15 a.m., officials were dispatched to the intersection of United States 40 and County Road 225 W, following the incident.

According to Indiana State Police Trooper Chip McKee, it was believed the woman pulled out onto U.S. 40 in front of a truck carrying wooden skids.

The woman had to be extricated from her vehicle using the Jaws of Life.

"She was very responsive," McKee said. "She knew her name."

The woman could not be identified at this time pending family notification.

McKee added it was believed she sustained injuries to her head, shoulder and neck.

Due to the accident, traffic was stalled in both east and westbound lanes of U.S. 40 until approximately 9:45 a.m.

Other agencies responding included TransCare, Brazil City Police Department and the Posey Township Volunteer Fire Department.
