Phyllis Jo Crabb, 84, lifelong resident of Brazil, passed away at St. Vincent Clay Hospital Oct. 31, 2011, following a brief illness.

Phyllis was born in Brazil Oct. 26, 1927, the daughter of Walter H. Harrison Sr., and Helen (Detzel) Harrison.

Phyllis graduated from Brazil High School with the class of 1945 and attended Indiana State Teachers College for a year.

She began working for Arketex as a telephone operator in 1946.

Phyllis married Kenneth L. Crabb June 19, 1949.

Phyllis worked 21 years at Brazil High School and Northview High School as a Special Education Teachers Aide, retiring in 1991.

Phyllis served as Kenny's secretary for the 12 years of his tenure as the Mayor of Brazil.

Phyllis was a member of the First Christian Church and Delta Theta Tau Alumni Chapter.

She was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed watching Indiana University sports.

She enjoyed following her grandson's sports activities and attended as often as she could. Phyllis also enjoyed supporting and listening to Northview High School's marching band and vocal programs.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Walter Harrison Jr.

Phyllis is survived by her husband Kenny Crabb, children Chuck Crabb (Madeline), Bloomington, Ind., Cindy Hankey (Fred), Severna Park, Md., Casey Crabb (Chris), Monticello, Ind., grandchildren David Schwab (Katie), Greensboro, N.C., Daniel Schwab (Melissa), Annapolis, Md., Adam Crabb and Justin Crabb, Monticello, Ind., great-grandchildren Oliver Schwab, Annapolis, Md., Lucas Schwab and Bridget Schwab, Greensboro, N.C., as well as many extended family members.

Services for Phyllis will be at Lawson-Miller Chapel, Friday, Nov. 4, 2011, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Chris Gregg officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Thursday, Nov. 3, from 4-8 p.m.
