Former Clay City resident missing

Wednesday, November 2, 2011

Terry Baughn, former resident of Clay City and graduate of Clay City High School, with the class of 1956, has gone missing during an elk hunting trip on Green Mountain in Delta County, Co., near the town of Hotchkiss.

This resulted from the sudden winter storm that hit the area last Tuesday. Several others from other hunting groups were also stranded in this same storm, but they have all been accounted for even though one did not survive.

Terry has hunted the mountain with several of his hunting buddies for the last 44 years, and they are all safe. He is a well-seasoned hunter and a very resourceful man.

Terry and his wife Jean presently live in Howard, Ohio, northeast of Columbus. Terry is the son of Vernon Baughn and the late Eleanor Baughn. He is the brother of Jim and Dave Baughn and Karen Swearingen. He and his wife Jean are the parents of Jeff Baughn, Atlanta, Ga., Beth Baughn and Patsy Baughn, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Susan Baughn, Los Angeles, Calif.

Dozens of people, including members of the Delta County, Gunnison and Hotchkiss Search and Rescue teams are looking for Terry, including his own family members and hunting partners.

As of Tuesday, Nov. 2, there is still no sign of Terry. There is another big winter storm predicted to move into this same area Tuesday night and Wednesday.

The family requests your prayers that Terry will be found and that his family can remain strong during this time of trial.

I prayed that Terry be found and safely returned to his family and friends...
