James "Buddy" R. Kiser, 80, Brazil, passed away at Union Hospital, Terre Haute, Nov. 3, 2011, following a valiant battle with cancer.
He was born in Indianapolis, Feb. 26, 1931, the son of William Robert and Mildred Irene (Daniels) Kiser.
Jim graduated from Brazil High School with the class of 1951.
He married Joann Girton Aug. 4, 1951.
Jim served in the United States Army during Korea and was honorably discharged in 1953.
Following his return, he went to work for Allision's Transmissions, Indianapolis.
There, he worked in many different capacities, retiring from the Aircraft division in 1981.
Following retirement, Jim enjoyed fishing, traveling and spending time with his family.
He was a member of the American Legion, Knightsville Masonic Lodge and the First Presbyterian Church in Brazil.
He was preceded in death by his father William Kiser, mother Mildred Kiser Nunn, step-father Clifford "Red" Nunn, and sister Virginia Peterson.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years Joann Kiser, Brazil, daughter Susan John and husband Col. Craig Johnson, Plainfield, sons Rahn Kiser, Brazil, and Robert Kiser, Bountiful, Utah, grandsons Taylor Johnson and Christopher Johnson, both of Plainfield, and half-brother Clifford Nunn and wife Shauna, Naples, Fla.
Services will be at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011, at Lawson-Miller Chapel.
Visitation will be at the funeral home, Tuesday, from 4 p.m., until time of services.
