Local resident Les Rivera is working to make sure area kids have a warm winter.

Rivera, the youth leader at Family Worship Center, raises money in various ways throughout the community for Coats for Kids.

The coats Rivera gives out are from a bulk manufacturer that offers reasonable prices of around $10 a coat. He receives many different styles including Disney brand and athletic teams coats, for both girls and boys. The coats come factory sealed, which Rivera says is important because the families know they are brand new and sanitary.

Rivera said last year he gave out around 60-70 coats and hopes this year he can exceed that number.

"I'm placing another order for coats," Rivera said. "So if anyone needs a coat they should contact me."

A special thanks to the Brazil Times for helping me to get the word out there so we could reach more kids. I want to thank all those who donated either financially or their time to make this happen. Those kids deserve a coat no matter what. They can't control adult matters or the finances or even occasionally their parents pasts. However, they can be shown that people love them and will help them and who knows, maybe a simple coat will make a positive change on what they think of others. Thanks again. God Bless
