She was born March 4, 1948, in Brazil, the daughter of Lucille and Lloyd "Wimpy" Nelson.
She graduated from Brazil High School.
Sharon lived in Kissimmee, Fla., for several years and managed a golf shop in that area.
She returned to Brazil several years ago and in 2001, she married Dr. John "Jack" Oehler. He preceded her in death in 2006.
She was also preceded in death by her father Lloyd Nelson.
Sharon loved working in her yard and was quite handy with a lawnmower and leaf blower. Most important, she was the constant companion and caregiver to her dear mother Lucille "Luke" Nelson. She was devoted to her mother and cared for her even when Sharon's own health developed problems.
Survivors include her son Scott William Kirchner and wife Tricia, Lutz, Fla., her mother Lucille Luke Nelson, Brazil, grandsons Anthony, Connor and Jacob Kirchner, sister Linda Smith and Dr. Michael Whitman, nephew Jeff Martin, special friend Bob Rowe, Terre Haute, aunt Marilyn Douglas and uncle Bob Douglas and wife Carolyn, all of Brazil, many close cousins and her beloved dog, Max.
Funeral services will take place Saturday, at 1 p.m., at French Funeral Home, with Gene Weaver officiating. Cremation will follow.
Visitation will be Saturday, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, and knowing how Sharon loved her dog, Max, the family suggests donations be made to the Clay County Humane Shelter, 8280 N. CR 125 W., Brazil, Ind., 47834.
