The North Clay sixth-grade boys' basketball team scored its first win on Monday night with a 31-26 victory in the 'A' game to go with a 15-9 win in the 'B' game against South Vermillion.

In the 'A' game, Elijah Rivera led the way with a 10-point game with Logan Metz contributing eight for the Knights. Dylan Nussel produced a seven-point game with Andrew Harper adding four and Brevan Harper tallied two points in the win.

In the 'B' game, the Knights got five points from John Adams followed by four from Jarrett Bombs and Chase McCronklin. Michael Heading added two points from the free throw line.

The eighth-grade Knights dropped a 43-27 decision to Owen Valley as the Patriots drilled six 3-pointers in the second half.

Tucker Stewart played well while running the point guard spot for the Knights and tallied a team-high 12 points.

Despite falling behind by 20 points in the first half, the Knights scored on four straight trips down the court to narrow the gap despite being outsized at nearly every position. However, the Patriots started to get their outside shot going, which derailed the Knights rally.

Hunter Ragan scored nine points, Sam Grimes added two along with Ethan Linton.

In the 'B' game, Owen Valley won a tight 27-25 decision despite six points each from Blake Bennett, Quinton Hayes and Cam Brown. Lance Rector added four points with Grimes adding two and Caleb Simmons scoring one.

The sixth-grade Knights (1-3 overall) travel to West Vigo this evening at 5:15 p.m. in a doubleheader that includes the seventh-grade. The eighth-grade team hosts West Vigo this evening at 6 p.m.
