After a close first quarter, the Northview girls' basketball team lost to Riverton Parke, 48-19.

Things started off well for the Knights, until Riverton Parke pulled away in the final three quarters.

Knights' head coach, Scott Buell, said he liked what he saw in the first period, but noted that his team couldn't play lackadaisical against a team as talented as the Lady Panthers.

"I thought we played an excellent first quarter," Buell said.

"(The Lady Panthers) are an outstanding basketball team; it's the best team they've ever had.

"They have a division one basketball player that's getting recruited by 10-15 big time schools right now, and we played with them toe to toe. Then we had a couple bad things go wrong, and all of a sudden we lose our focus and kind of drop our heads and then our effort and our competitiveness really dropped off, and that part is disappointing."

By the end of the first quarter the Knights were in a position to take the lead only trailing by one point, 10-9.

However, the Knights were outscored 38-10 in the final three quarters.

Buell said one goal for the upcoming week is to learn to play a complete game.

"We have to compete for four quarters...it's not going to get easier," Buell said. "We're going to have to keep our heads up (and) we're going to have to stay positive.

"We're going to have to work as hard as we possibly can every night to get better, and eventually good things are going to come."

Statistical leaders for the Knights included Ashley Hughes who knocked down two 3-pointers on her way to a 10-point night, and Mikayla Rowan who scored six points.

Meanwhile, the Knights junior varsity defeated Riverton Parke 34-22.

Leaders for the JV Knights were Sydney Buell and Natasha Barrett, with 10-points each.
