TERRE HAUTE -- The North Clay sixth-grade boys' basketball team scored a 28-20 road win against West Vigo on Wednesday evening.
The teams reached the end of the first period in an 8-all tie, but the Knights began to slowly edge away with a three-point lead at halftime. However, the Trojans kept the game close through the third period before the Knights outscored West Vigo by three points in the fourth quarter to gain the win.
Andrew Osborn led a balanced scoring attack that saw eight Knights reach the scoring column against the Western Indiana Conference rival Trojans.
Dylan Nussel tallied five points with both Logan Metz and Elijah Rivera adding four. North Clay also got strong efforts from Andy Young, Anthony Drury, Evan Dudrow and Jarett Combs, who each had two points. The Knights' Jarred Guidry posted one point.
The sixth-grade Knights are now 2-3 overall and play at Woodrow Wilson on Monday evening.
The seventh-grade Knights came out on the short end of a 31-26 in their battle with West Vigo on Wednesday.
North Clay's Braelyne Compton led the scoring with five points.
The seventh-grade team will join the sixth-grade in the road trip on Monday to Woodrow Wilson that begins at 6:15 p.m.
