The following is a list of upcoming area events as provided to The Brazil Times:
The Clay County Courthouse, Highway Department, Health Department, Extension Office and Soil and Water Conservation Office will be closed Thursday and Friday in observance of Thanksgiving.
All offices and departments will reopen for normal business hours Monday, Nov. 28.
City Hall Closed
Brazil City Hall will be closed Thursday and Friday during Thanksgiving week.
In addition, the sanitation schedule will be on time with the exception of Thursday trash being picked up Friday.

The Staunton Community Center will have a coffee and donut break for the community on Tuesday, from 9-11 a.m. Coffee will be 50 cents and donuts are $1.
Commissioners To Meet
The Clay County Commissioners have scheduled a special meeting for 10 a.m., Tuesday.
The meeting will take place in the Commissioner's Courtroom on the first floor of the Clay County Courthouse.
Approval of the Wallace Transfer Station will be under consideration during the meeting.
The Clay County Chamber of Commerce will conduct its monthly meeting Tuesday, Nov. 22, at noon, at St. Vincent Clay Hospital.
The guest speaker will be Clay County Community Corrections Program Director Mary Brown.

The Brazil Board of Public Works will meet at 2 p.m., Wednesday, in City Hall Council Chambers.
General business will be discussed and the public is welcome to attend.
Council To Meet
The Carbon Town Council will conduct a special meeting at 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, at Carbon Town Hall in regard to the contract with Commonwealth Engineers, Inc.
First Baptist Church, 413 S. Walnut St., Brazil, will conduct its 26th Thanksgiving Dinner Nov. 24.
Serving will begin at noon.
There will be no charge to attend. For reservations, call 448-8112 and leave a message.
Delivery will be available for homebound residents in the Brazil area.
Open Friday Evening
The Clay County Courthouse will be open the evening of the annual Christmas In The Park Parade, set for Friday.
The courthouse will be open at 5:30 p.m. The parade is scheduled to begin at 6:30.
Employees at the courthouse will serve hot chocolate, coffee and cookies at no cost.
Children ages 8-14 are invited to the Brazil Public Library at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 30, to make a tissue paper Christmas Wreath.

Clay Community Schools Central Curriculum Committee will meet at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 30, in the media center of North Clay Middle School.
Items on the agenda will include discussion of new Indiana Common Core Standards and Parcc Assessment, review and voting on high school course proposals and adoption of new textbooks for the 2012-13 school year.
