The following is a list of upcoming area events as provided to The Brazil Times:


The Clay County Courthouse, Highway Department, Health Department, Extension Office and Soil and Water Conservation Office will be closed Friday in observance of Thanksgiving.

All offices and departments will reopen for normal business hours Monday, Nov. 28.

City Hall Closed

Brazil City Hall will be closed Friday in observance of Thanksgiving.

In addition, the sanitation schedule will be on time with the exception of Thursday trash being picked up Friday.

The Wesley Chapel Church Food Bank, normally scheduled to take place on the third Saturday of each month, has been canceled for November.

Organizers will attempt to conduct a food bank for December.

Coats Available

Les Rivera, along with Coats for Kids, is working to keep those in Clay County in need warm. Rivera purchases coats from a bulk manufacturer for reasonable prices, to give to those in need. Those interested can reach Rivera at 812-241-6421.

Shop With A Cop

The Brazil City Police Department is now accepting applications from people and families interested in its Shop-With-A-Cop program.

Applications may be picked up at the department.

All applications are due by Nov. 30.

Craft Time!

Children ages 8-14 are invited to the Brazil Public Library at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 30, to make a tissue paper Christmas Wreath.

Sandy's Good Books and More will be open Saturday, Nov. 26, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

Meeting Set

The Brazil Common Council has scheduled a meeting for 7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 30, in City Hall Council Chambers.

General business will be discussed, and the public is welcome to attend.

Annual Meeting

Habitat for Humanity of Clay County will conduct its annual board meeting at 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 1, at the Center Point United Methodist Church.
