Northview freshmen open season with victory

The Northview freshman basketball team defeated Owen Valley Monday night, 38-24.

The Knights shook off a four-point first quarter and went on to outscore the Patriots 34-17 in the final three.

Jacob Harden propelled the Knights in the second quarter with his strong inside presence, which allowed him to convert on 6-of-6 foul shots and grab two boards in the quarter.

The Knights' outside shooting also came alive in the second quarter with Gabe Rodgers and Seth Payton both knocking down triples.

At the halftime break the Knights had regained the lead by a score of 18-11.

The third quarter saw the Knights extend their lead with Harden tallying four more points and Keegan Roembke scoring three with an and-one. Gaddis Baysinger also got in the mix with two points and two rebounds.

At the end of the third the Knights lead 27-17.

In the fourth, the Knights sealed the victory with sound defense and good clock management.

The offense was helped by another 3-pointer from Rogers, as well as four points from Paul Dickison and two-points from Antoney Bryan.

Eventually the Knights were able to secure the victory by a score of 36-24.

The Knights and Patriots then played two-quarters of reserve time that needed an extra two minutes to decide the victory by the Knights 15-13.

Leading scorers for the Knights were Bryan and Nick McCollum with five and four-points respectively.

The Knights (1-0 overall) play at Terre Haute North on Friday night at 6 p.m.
