The Community Choir has scheduled four Christmas Cantata performances this year, with the first one scheduled to take place Sunday.
According to choir representative Lynne Nadolny, the choir will perform its 2011 cantata, "Comfort and Joy," by Jay Rouse and Randy Vader, at 6 p.m., Sunday, at the Bowling Green United Methodist Church.
She said the choir has existed at least 15 years and has performed this specific cantata before.
"We have performed this before, but it was several years ago," she said. "The message is what we like best. Through the birth of Christ, we are given comfort, and we are brought joy."
There are approximately 35-50 members in the choir.
This year, Lynne said soloists include herself, Steve Nadolny, Norma Winn, Ruth Fischer, Sam Glover and Tim Grindle.
Charlene Hauser and Carolyn Thomas will provide accompaniment.
The cantata will be narrated by Nadene Woolf and directed by Lynne Nadolny.
The choir will also perform the cantata Monday, Dec. 5, at the Poland Historical Chapel, beginning at 7 p.m.
"This will be the first Christmas presentation at the church since they've re-opened it," Lynne said.
Additional performances will take place Friday, Dec. 9, at the Carbon Historical Chapel, at 7 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 11, at the Brazil Community Missionary Church, beginning at 6 p.m.
Lynne said the choir, which also conducts performances during Easter, randomly selects places to perform annually.
