She was born in Brazil on Nov. 3, 1956, as the daughter of Harold and Barbara (Schnurpel) Gerber. Lou received her G.E.D. and was certified as a Certified Nurses Assistant and Qualified Medicine Aide. Over her career, Lou worked at Holly Hill Nursing Home, Brazil, and at Lakeview Nursing Home, Terre Haute.
She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Seelyville. Lou enjoyed singing karaoke and going to yard sales during the summer.
She was preceded in death by her father Harold Gerber, brother Harold Frederick Gerber, and husband Newton Cunningham.
She is survived by her mother Barbara Linton, son Greg Cunningham (Renee), two daughters Jennifer Clark (Robert), Brazil, and Barbie Riley, Terre Haute, grandchildren Kristan Norris-Cunningham, Alexander Riley, Michelle Weaver, Austin Weaver, Braydan Riley, Makayla Worthington, Lacey Clark and Makayla Clark, brother Randy Gerber, sister Barbara Hargis, close friends and caretakers Rosetta Frank and Jimmy Norris, as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 13, at Moore Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Cottage Hill Cemetery.
