The following is a list of upcoming area events as provided to The Brazil Times:

Karaoke

The Clay County Senior Citizen's Center, 120 S. Franklin St., Brazil, will host Mel's Karaoke Friday, at 6 p.m.

Food will be served as a fundraiser and the community is invited to attend.

Program Scheduled

The Little Historic Church at Carbon will conduct a program today.

There will be a pitch-in dinner at 6 p.m., with the program starting at 7.

This month, entertainment will be provided by the Clay County Community Choir, performing, "Comfort and Joy."

All are invited to attend.

Breakfast With Santa

The Clay City Band Boosters will sponsor a Breakfast With Santa event at the Clay City Jr./Sr. Auditeria Saturday, from 9-11 a.m.

Breakfast will include pancakes and sausage. Cost is $6 for everyone ages 3-over.

Photographs with Santa will be available for $4.

Crafts and activities for children of all ages will be available.

Hoop Shoot Contest

The Elks National Free Throw "Hoop Shoot" contest will take place Saturday, at East Side Elementary School.

The event is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m.

Boys and girls ages 8-13 are invited to compete. Contestant age groups will be determined by age as of April 1, 2012.

Holiday Coffee

The Clay County Skatepark Committee will conduct a Holiday Coffee event at the home of Matt and Shannon Houston Willmore, 522 N. Meridian St., Brazil, Saturday.

The event will start at 10 a.m., and end at noon. Coffee, tea, sweet breads and fruits will be served.

Book Signing

Parke County resident Mike Lunsford will sign copies of his latest book, "A Place Near Home," at the Coffee Grounds Bakery and Coffee Shop, 1115 E. National Ave., Brazil, Saturday.

The event will start at 10:30 a.m., and end at 1 p.m.

Republicans To Meet

The Clay County Republican Club will conduct its monthly meeting Monday, Dec. 12, at 7 p.m., at the Clay County Senior Citizen's Center, 120 S. Franklin St., Brazil.

The meeting will be a Christmas celebration.

Members are asked to bring finger foods. A donation of paper products such as toilet paper, paper towels, etc., to donate to the Clay County Senior Citizen's Center will be collected as well.

Meeting Scheduled

A regular meeting of the Brazil Board of Public Works will take place Dec. 13, at 2 p.m., in Council Chambers of Brazil City Hall.

General business will be discussed and the public is welcome to attend.

Meeting Date Changed

The Brazil Parks and Recreation Board meeting has been changed from Tuesday, Dec. 13, to Monday, Dec. 12, due to scheduling conflicts.

The meeting will take place in Council Chambers of Brazil City Hall at 6:30 p.m.

General business will be discussed and the public is invited to attend.

Commission To Meet

The Clay County Redevelopment Commission has rescheduled its December meeting.

The committee, which generally meets on the third Wednesday of each month, has rescheduled its monthly meeting for 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 14.

The meeting will take place at Brazil City Hall and the public is invited to attend.

Book Signing

Joseph Fitch, author of "Badges and Badasses," will conduct a book signing Wednesday, Dec. 14, at 7 p.m.

The event will take place at the Brazil Public Library.

City Council To Meet

A regular meeting of the Brazil Common Council will take place at 7 p.m., Dec. 14, in Council Chambers of Brazil City Hall.

General business will be discussed and the public is welcome to attend.

Meeting Scheduled

The annual meeting of the Posey Township Clay County Volunteer Fire Department will take place at 7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 16, at the firehouse.

Election of two public directors will take place and a report of activities from the past year will be presented.

Santa in Staunton

Santa Claus will pay a visit to the Staunton Community Center Saturday, Dec. 17.

Santa will be at the center from 2-4 p.m., to visit with Staunton-area children.

Treats will be available. In addition, cookies, hot chocolate and coffee will be served.

The event is free to the community.

Christmas Walk

The annual Christmas In The Park Christmas Walk will take place Sunday, Dec. 18, from 6-8 p.m., at Forest Park.

The event will include Christmas Caroling by various church groups.
