North Clay 'B' teams win on the road at Greencastle

GREENCASTLE -- The North Clay eighth-grade boy's basketball teams split in its road trip to Greencastle on Thursday evening.

The 'A' team lost a narrow 40-37 decision to the Tiger Cubs despite a 14-point effort from Nate Thomas and an overall balanced scoring night from the team.

The Knights also got six points from Hunter Ragan with five coming from Quinton Hayes and four from Liam Jones. North Clay also got three points each from Tucker Stewart and Ethan Linton while Ben Girton added two.

In the 'B' game, North Clay picked up a 33-25 victory led by seven points from Hayes followed by six from Gavin Johnson. Matt Phegley contributed five followed by three from Lance Rector and two apiece from Cam Brown, Sam Grimes, Preston Pinnick and Blake Bennett.

The seventh-grade Knights also split their games with the 'A' team losing a 42-38 contest and the 'B' team winning by a 50-21 score.

Braelyne Compton led the 'A' team with 14 points followed by eight points each from Drew Lumsdon and Dylan Hyatt. In the 'B' contest, Luke Lancaster topped the Knights' scoring with 14 points followed by Steven Crafton with eight and Jace Glassburn with six.

The Knights are back in action on the road against North Central (Farmersburg) on Monday beginning at 6 p.m.
