According to Nurse Manager Dixie Swan, the Terre Haute center is offering new services and will take referrals from the Brazil office.
"Beginning in January, at the Terre Haute center, we will have a doctor who has volunteered his services for one day a month," Swan said. "That will be a full day where we will be offering, for anyone who comes in, the opportunity to meet with a nurse and the services that will be needed will be evaluated."
Swan said depending on sexual history, symptoms and concerns, the center will determine the best course of action for the patient.
Swan said The Crisis Pregnancy Center is excited to be able to expand its STD screenings.
The center will offer free services, including pregnancy tests, breast exams and HIV tests. Urine tests for chlamydia and gonorrhea will be offered for $15, which covers the lab fee, while blood drawn tests for syphilis, hepatitis B and hepatitis C are $10.
Swan said the doctor may also provide visual exams for herpes and write prescriptions when necessary for the STD.
Crisis Pregnancy Center also offers Pap smears for women 21-older, which cost $20.
Swan said along with the tests, the Crisis Pregnancy Center is still offering counseling.
"Along with all this (testing) goes counseling to reduce risks that come with sexual activity, because no matter if they use condoms or other forms of protection it's still risky because they do fail," Swan said.
The Crisis Pregnancy Center in Terre Haute is open Monday, from 1-7 p.m., Tuesday-Thursday, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., and Friday, from noon-5 p.m.
