He was born Dec. 29, 1985, in Clay County, the son of Robert Max and Lois Viola (Anderson) Ellis.
Nic graduated from Northview High School with the class of 2004.
He worked at the Putnamville Correctional Facility and was currently employed as a correctional officer at the Federal Correctional Complex in Terre Haute.
He was also a member of the Fontanet Volunteer Fire Department.
Nic had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed playing paintball and lazer tag, playing video games, spending time with friends and family, and especially riding his motorcycle.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Oscar T. Black, Phyllis Ellis and Gilbert Ellis as well as an uncle Willard Ellis and cousin Jesse Stapert.
Nic is survived by his parents Robert and Viola Ellis, Brazil, brother Philip Ellis, Terre Haute, maternal grandmother Nancy Black, aunts and uncles Nancy Lynn Weinrich, Lafayette, Clifford Anderson (Cindy), Brazil, Chris Traver (Richard), Brazil, Michael Jason Black, Clinton, Brian Black (Shiela), Brazil, Edna Meeks (Randy), Georgia, Tony Ellis (Dirinda), Brazil, and Flo Ellis, Knightsville, as well as numerous cousins and extended family members.
Services will take place at Lawson-Miller Chapel, Brazil, Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, at 2 p.m., with Pastor Tim Russell officiating.
Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the funeral home Thursday, from 10 a.m., until time of services.
