Clay City remains unbeaten with road victory

VINCENNES -- The Clay City boy's basketball team will get to enjoy the Christmas holiday as an unbeaten squad after defeating Vincennes Rivet on the road Friday night by a 53-45 score.

The win halted a six-game losing streak for the Eels against Vincennes Rivet and improved the Eels to 5-0 overall.

Clay City held a narrow two-point advantage at halftime, but pulled ahead by outscoring the Patriots 17-11 in the crucial third quarter.

Brylan Jones had a big game for the Eels with 20 points and 12 rebounds while Blake Cesinger scored 11 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in the victory. Ben Denker contributed 12 points for Clay City.

The junior varsity squad also was victorious, defeating the Patriots by a 33-17 score.

Clay City competes in the Graber Post Buildings Classic at North Daviess High School beginning on Dec. 28 with a match-up against Barr-Reeve at 3 p.m.
