Officials with the Clay County Sheriff's Department arrested two individuals Wednesday in connection to a reported stolen vehicle.
At approximately 5:30 a.m., Wednesday, CCSD deputies were alerted to a vehicle fire in the rural northeastern area of Clay County.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered a truck on fire. It was later discovered the truck had been reported stolen in Vigo County only hours before.
During a search of the area, a motorist notified deputies of two suspicious males walking near the scene of the vehicle.
Both males were detained and interviewed. One of the males admitted his involvement in stealing the vehicle from Vigo County.
The two individuals, later identified as James Michael King, 20, Terre Haute, and Jay Steven Snyder III, 18, Terre Haute, were arrested and preliminarily charged with Class D Felony Arson and Class D Felony Receiving Stolen Auto Parts.
Bond for both individuals was set at $7,000, with no 10 percent allowed.
Clay County officials forwarded their information to the Vigo County Sheriff's Department to assist them in seeking criminal prosecution for the individuals for the initial theft of the truck.
