An area woman recently received a personal letter from President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama.

The letter wished a happy birthday to Helen Rentschler, Clay City, as on Christmas Day, she will turn 102.

"I can't tell a difference," Rentschler said of her birthday during a party at Cloverleaf Healthcare, Knightsville, where she has lived for the past three years. She said she didn't plan on ever turning 102.

For most of her life, Rentschler was a nurse at her husband's doctor's office in Clay City. She was a homemaker and gardener. She also loves cooking.

Family members and friends at Cloverleaf celebrated Rentschler's birthday Thursday with cake.
