WEST TERRE HAUTE -- The Sisters of Providence have planned their Christmas services for Saturday and Sunday.
The Christmas Vigil and Christmas Day Liturgy will both be in the Church of the Immaculate Conception at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods.
Both are open to people of all faith traditions.
The Christmas Vigil will be from 7-8 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 24. Sisters of Providence and the wider community will gather for a reflective prayer service which will include scripture readings, prayer, instrumental carols, singing of carols and candle lighting.
Eucharistic Liturgy will be at 11:30 a.m., that day.
Christmas Day will be celebrated with Eucharistic Liturgy at 11 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 25.
A prelude of instrumental carols and singing will begin at 10:45 a.m.
The Sisters of Providence, a Congregation of nearly 400 women religious, have their motherhouse at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, located northwest of Terre Haute.
Saint Mother Theodore Guerin founded the Sisters of Providence at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods in 1840.
Today, Sisters of Providence minister in 19 states, the District of Columbia and Asia.
