Alumni Night slated

Monday, December 26, 2011

The Northview High School Band and Guard will honor past members Jan. 6, with its annual Alumni Night.

Several events will take place during the evening.

At 5 p.m., the Northview Band Boosters will conduct a chili dinner in the high school cafeteria. Cost is $5 for the meal or $3.50 for a bowl of chili. In addition, hot dogs will be served at a cost of $1.50.

Band and guard alumni are asked to sign in at the northeast end of the cafeteria when they arrive.

At 6:15 p.m., those interested in performing during the basketball games will meet in the high school band room to get horns and T-shirts.

At approximately 7 p.m., the members will head to the gymnasium to perform. The regular NHS pep band will perform during the varsity girls' game, scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.

Northview's varsity basketball squads will face Western Indiana Conference foe Owen Valley that evening.

The alumni will join the pep band for the boys' game, set to start at approximately 7:30 p.m.

The Northview guard alumni drill team will perform at halftime of the game. Band and guard officials said a rehearsal has been scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 26, at 6:30 p.m., at the YMCA of Clay County Community Room. In addition, a video of the routine will be posted on the band's Facebook page.

A reserved seating section will be available above the band in the gymnasium for alumni who will not perform during the doubleheader.

The T-shirts will be available for $10 each. The alumni evening is for former band students from Brazil, Van Buren, Staunton and Northview.

Those interested in attending should RSVP on the band's Facebook page, www.facebook.com/nmkband.
