TERRE HAUTE -- Freshmen civil engineering students at the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology are ready to put their innovative ideas to good use on design projects during the spring academic quarter.
Traditionally, the projects are sponsored by local citizens and community groups.
As freshmen, the students have limited engineering skills, but they always show enthusiasm and creativity, while providing a genuine service to communities.
Civil Engineering Professors John Aidoo and Jenny Mueller-Price expect to have 12 different projects this spring.
Typical projects include parking lot layouts, solutions for drainage and traffic problems, simple waste treatment problems, floor plans for small buildings and designs for athletic fields, playgrounds and park projects.
Each project is completed by the students in nine weeks. The spring quarter begins March 5.
Those interested in offering a project for the Rose-Hulman freshman civil engineering design program should contact Aidoo at 812-877-8594 or e-mail project descriptions to email@example.com by Feb. 17.
