Larry Thomas Moore died the week of Jan. 2, 2012, in his home in Brazil.

Larry was born March 22, 1940, in Brazil.

The family moved to East Alton, Ill., and he graduated from East Alton High School in 1958.

Larry received his BA from Milliken University in 1962. He served in country in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1966-70.

He married Jeanette Bryant in 1966 and they had one daughter, Suzyn.

Larry received his MA from Illinois State University in 1971.

Larry was a writer and editor with Bobbitt Publishing, Chilton Corporation and Cloud Publishing. He retired from his professional career from MD Anderson Cancer Institute in Houston, Texas, and worked for Hobby Trucking in his post retirement years.

Larry was a longtime and proud member of the National Rifle Association and loved fishing and hunting.

Larry is preceded in death by his father, Walter Moore, aunts Regina Garrigus, Helen Cassidy and Deliah Jean (Judy) Hensley, and uncles Chuck Moore, Orville Moore and Harry Tiffee.

He is survived by his daughter Suzyn Moore (Derke) Price, grandchildren Nicholas and Anne Price, mother Grace Moore, sister Nancy Moore (Gene) Clarke, nieces Linda and Christine and nephew Joe and many great-nieces and nephews.

His great friend, Darlene Royer, of Brazil, provided him many years of joy and companionship and will miss him.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Monday, Jan. 9, at Moore Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home with Pastor Richard Pippin officiating.
