The following is a list of upcoming area events as provided to The Brazil Times:

Bridal Show

The eighth Bridal Show, sponsored by The Brazil Times and The Banner Graphic, will take place Sunday, from 1-4 p.m., at Traditions Banquet Hall, 105 E. National Ave., Brazil.

No Paper Monday

In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, The Brazil Times will not publish a newspaper Monday. However, The Times will publish a newspaper Tuesday, Jan. 17. For further information, call 446-2216, Monday-Friday, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.


In observance of Martin Luther King Day, the Clay County Courthouse, Soil and Water Conservation Office, Health Department and Extension Office will be closed Monday, Jan. 16.

All offices will re-open for regular business hours Tuesday, Jan. 17.

Ivy Tech Classes

The Linking Education to Adults, Adolescents and Preschoolers (LEAAP) Center, 501 E. Jackson St., Brazil, and Ivy Tech Community College are teaming together to offer college courses for interested individuals.

Special Meeting

The Carbon Town Council will conduct a special meeting Thursday, at noon, at Carbon Town Hall.

The purpose of the meeting is to take action on the Preliminary Engineering Report for the Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvement Project.

The council will also take action on the salary ordinance for 2012.

Meeting Scheduled

The Board of Commissioners for the Brazil Housing Authority will meet at 8:30 a.m., Jan. 12, in the offices of the Brazil Housing Authority, 122 W. Jackson St., Brazil.

Dance! Dance!

The YMCA of Clay County will conduct a youth dance Friday.

The dance is open to sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders. Cost is $5. The dance will begin at 8 p.m., and end at 10:30.

The Reelsville Volunteer Fire Department will conduct its monthly breakfast from 7-11 a.m., Saturday.

All are invited to attend.

On The Radio!

The Northview High School boys' basketball game on the road against the Bloomington North Cougars, scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 17, will be broadcast live on 97.7-FM WCLS Radio. Award-winning Tony Kale will handle play-by-play.

Committee Meeting Set

The Northview High School Postprom Committee will meet Thursday, Jan. 19, at 6 p.m., in room 214 at the high school.

3D Snowflakes!

Interested individuals are invited to the Brazil Public Library at 6 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 19, to learn how to make a 3D snowflake.

The program is free for adults and open to the public.
