Council elects new leadership

Thursday, January 12, 2012

Sam Glover
The Brazil City Council met for its first meeting of the year Wednesday and began to shape its new look.

The council's first order of business was to accept nominations for council president and vice-president.

Councilman Tyler Hutcheson nominated Sam Glover to the position of council president and was seconded by Dustin Jorgensen.

Brad Deal
The council voted all in favor of the nomination.

Glover then nominated Brad Deal to the position of vice president, which was seconded by Tyler Hutch-eson.

The council once again voted all in favor of the nomination.

Meanwhile, the council attended to new business.

First, Mayor Brian Wyndham asked the council for their preferences on meeting dates and times going forward.

The council decided, because of work schedules, it would be best to leave the dates and times the same.

The council will meet the second Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m., in Brazil City Hall Chambers, and if needed the council can meet the fourth Wednesday of the month.

Next, the council needed to appoint two members to the Planning Commission.

Councilwoman Ann Bradshaw and Glover volunteered to be part of the committee.

The next scheduled meeting is Wednesday, Feb. 8, at 7 p.m., in Brazil City Hall.

Brazil Mom, just curious, what do you mean by your comment? Do you mean they are in the same mind set or something else? Anyways, I hope God guides the decisions of this new administration.

Do you mean that statement because Glover is a Republican and Deal is a Democrat????? Brazil Mom, I wonder why you would say that. Do you know both of them personally? Geez, it seems like there is a lot of negativity around town or is it the negative folks make negative statements especially regarding elected officals.
