The Northview Winter Guard is preparing for another season.

The 12 girls will be competing for the Indiana High School Color Guard Association (IHSCGA) in the Scholastic World Division. The first competition is Saturday, Jan. 28, at Owen Valley. The theme this year is based on an opera. The music will be layered, making multiple ideas take place at once.

The routine includes the songs, "The Queen of the Nigh Aria," "Olympia's Doll Song" and "Zu Hilse!"

Winter Guard Director Ruth Ann Medworth said the skills used in the world class are the most difficult, but she expects the guard to do well this year.

"The girls are very, very talented," she said. "We're anticipating that they'll have a successful year. They have a lot of skills and a lot of opportunity to do good."

"You're always trying to improve," Medworth said. "It's a process all along the way."
