Clarence Xychus Schopmeyer, 88, Poland, died Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 21, 1923, in Bowling Green, Ind., as the son of Clarence Albert and Aurel B. Frump Schopmeyer.
Following graduation from high school, he graduated from the Terre Haute Business College.
He married Billy Schultz Aug. 12, 1949.
He worked as a rural letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service and as a farmer.
He was a member of Zion United Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Justin Beecher Schopmeyer, sisters-in-law Lorene Schopmeyer and Betty Ann Freeman, and brothers-in-law Normand Freeman and Herbie Lee Schultz.
He is survived by his wife Billy Schopmeyer, sons Lee Schopmeyer (Kelly), Cape Coral, Fla., and Marlin Schopmeyer (Suzann), Bowling Green, daughters Vickie Haskins (Dave), Bowling Green, and Marlene Blackburn (Tony), West Chester, Ohio, grandchildren Courtney Lamar, Grant Schopmeyer, Ben Garlit, Laine Auler, Haylee Schopmeyer, Justine Schopmeyer, Victoria Schopmeyer, Luke Schopmeyer, Rea-jean Blackburn, Brenden Blackburn and Alessandra Blackburn, multiple great-grandchildren, and other extended family.
Private family funeral services will take place Friday, at Moore Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Zion Cemetery, Poland.
