Homecoming in full swing for Clay City

Clay City Jr./Sr. High School is celebrating its 2012 Winter Homecoming/Spirit week this week.

Several events were planned ahead of the crowning of the 2012 queen, which will take place Saturday during the Clay City boys' varsity basketball game against White River Valley.

Tip-off for the junior varsity game is scheduled for 6 p.m., with the homecoming ceremony, including coronation of the queen, taking place between the junior varsity and varsity games.

Students were encouraged to wear class colors to school Monday. The following is a list of class colors:

* Seventh-Grade -- Pink,

* Eighth-Grade -- Yellow,

* Ninth-Grade -- Green,

* Tenth-Grade -- Blue,

* Eleventh-Grade -- White, and

* Twelfth-Grade -- Black.

Faculty and staff were also encouraged to wear red to school Monday.

Tuesday was designated as "Blooming Onion Day,' where students were encouraged to wear layers of clothing and peel off the layers throughout the day.

Wednesday was designated as Future Occupation Day. In addition, Thursday was set as Favorite Salad Dressing Day. The following are examples of what students were encouraged to wear in conjunction with their favorite salad dressing:

* Caesar -- Greek clothing,

* Ranch -- Cowboy clothing,

* 1,000 Island -- Hawaiian clothing, and

* Italian -- Striped shirts with jeans.

Friday was also designated as Purple and White/Clay City/Jungle Theme Day.

The school will also honor the classes of 1962 and 1987 at halftime of the varsity game Saturday.

In addition, members of the two classes are invited to a banquet in the high school auditeria, beginning at 4:30 p.m.
