Brazil City Fire Department

The following is a list of calls the Brazil City Fire Department have responded to from Jan. 12-24:

* Thursday, Jan. 12 -- At 10 a.m., firefighters responded to 949 E. National Ave., Britt Aero, for a hot electrical smell. An overheated light ballast in the attic storage area was found to be the cause,

* Thursday, Jan. 12 --At 5:55 p.m., firefighters responded to 612 S. Depot St., for an activated smoke alarm. The alarm was found to be malfunctioning,

* Friday, Jan. 13 -- At 7:34 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to an area of Blaine Street, between Walnut and Meridian, for a possible chimney fire. No fire was located,

* Saturday, Jan. 14 --At 6:59 p.m., firefighters responded to 735 N. Vandalia St., to investigate a strong odor of rubber burning. The problem was found to be a furnace blower motor that had locked up and overheated,

* Wednesday, Jan. 18 --At 5:48 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to 120 W. Jackson St., Cooper Towers Apartment Building, for an automated alarm. The alarm malfunctioned,

* Friday, Jan. 20 -- At 7:31 p.m., firefighters responded to a possible structure fire on South Vine Street. The problem was found to be burned electrical wires between apartments in the 300 block of the street,

* Monday, Jan. 23 -- At 7:46 a.m., firefighters were dispatched to 825 E. National Ave., Forest Park Plaza, for an automated alarm. No problem was found and the alarm company was contacted, and

* Tuesday, Jan. 24 --At 11:35 a.m., firefighters were dispatched to 626 E. Jackson St., for an illegal burn. The resident did not have a permit and agreed to put the fire out.
