TERRE HAUTE -- The non-profit Maple Center for Integrative Health will offer Therapeutic Yoga classes beginning Feb. 18.
Taught by Jan Croft, MS, LPT, licensed physical therapist and masters level mental health counselor, the six weekly, one-and-a-half hour sessions will provide an approach to improve physical conditioning, flexibility and relaxation skills.
The program may be started by anyone.
According to research, the benefits of yoga include: Increased flexibility of the neck, back, chest and shoulders; improved physical strength and function; improved quality of life/inner peace; and decreased side effects from chemotherapy.
Classes will meet for six Saturdays, from 10-11:30 a.m., Feb. 18, 25, and March 3, 10, 17, and 24. The therapeutic yoga classes are sponsored by and take place at the Hux Cancer Center, 1711 N. 6 ½ St., north of Union Hospital, Terre Haute.
Cost for all six classes is $60. Cash or checks will be accepted, made payable to The Maple Center by Feb. 13.
