Two arrested in connection to burglary

Sunday, February 5, 2012

Two Coal City men were arrested early Saturday morning in connection to a possible burglary attempt.

According to officials with the Clay County Sheriff's Department, Trevor Dakota Mace, 19, Coal City, and William L. Akard, 42, Coal City, were both arrested following the incident.

According to Sheriff Mike Heaton, officials received a call early Saturday morning about two "suspicious" people walking along State Road 157, south of Clay City, leaving the area of a residence.

Officials said a homeowner in the area made the call.

Upon arrival, officials said they found two vehicles near a home, one of which was stuck in the mud and full of alleged stolen items from the home.

The other vehicle was a passenger vehicle, allegedly belonging to one of the individuals.

Officials stated the two men allegedly kicked in a door to a garage at the residence to retrieve the items.

Both individuals were arrested and taken to the Clay County Justice Center.

Akard was preliminarily charged with Attempted Burglary (a class C felony), Criminal Mischief, Public Intoxication and Trespass.

Mace was preliminarily charged with Public Intoxication, Trespass and Minor Consumption.

As of Sunday evening, Akard remained incarcerated on a $10,000 bond, with no 10 percent allowed.

Likewise, Mace remained incarcerated on a $7,000 bond, with no 10 percent allowed.

This article is not acurate: The arrest took place in the evening not early morning, bond was set at $5,000 with bail allowed and both men where not charged with the same thing as they did not commit the same crime.Just remember before placing judgement that there is more to the story and don't believe everything you read or hear.
