An evening of celebration was recently enjoyed by Ernie and Marsha Jackson in honor of their fiftieth wedding anniversary.

Ernie and Marsha were joined together in marriage at the Ebenezer EUB church on May 4, 1962.

A gathering of family and friends celebrated their years together at the MCL Cafeteria in Terre Haute, on the evening of Jan. 14, 2012. Many of the guests shared short stories from their wedding and memorable moments from over the past fifty years.

A cake with yellow roses and gold decorations marked the evening as a special occasion. A toast was given to honor them and to celebrate their many happy years together.

Marsha, the former Miss Ames, Brazil, is a retired fourth-grade teacher of over 37 years in the Vigo County School Corporation. She is currently employed by Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College with the distant education program.

Ernie, originally of Cory, is a retired coal miner with Amax Coal.

The evening was planned by their daughter and son-in-law, Jane Jackson-Mace and John Mace, and grandchildren, Mannah and Asher Mace.
