Gary Wayne Sellmer, 58, Indianapolis, died Feb. 7, 2012, at his residence.

He was born Jan. 20, 1954, in Indianapolis, the son of Dr. George W. and F. Rosalind Westfall Sellmer.

Gary attended Nora Elementary School and Roosevelt Military Academy in Aledo, Ill.

He worked for Bill Estes Chevrolet and Hubler Chevrolet in Indianapolis.

Over the years, he worked as an auto parts salesman and parts department manager.

He moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., for several years where he continued to work until health problems forced him to retire.

He returned to Indianapolis in 2009.

Since he was a teen, he enjoyed riding motorcycles. After he could no longer ride, his closest friend purchased a side car so he could still be on the road.

Gary was also an avid NASCAR fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his daughter Megan Sellmer, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., son Joseph Sellmer, Ft. Collins, Colo., brother Geoffrey W. Sellmer (Sara Jane), Indianapolis, sister Vanita Moore (Rob), Brazil, half-brother Guy W. Sellmer (Judy), Danville, Ky., and half-sister Sue Sellmer Roettger (David), Carmel, nephews Glen Sellmer (Mary), North Carolina, Grant Sellmer, Indianapolis, Thiel Munro, Westminster, Colo., and Jereme Sellmer, Indianapolis, nieces Micah Guy, Westminster, Colo., and Jessica Sellmer, Indianapolis, and other extended family.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. until noon, Saturday, Feb. 11, at Union Chapel United Methodist Church in Indianapolis.

Funeral services will be conducted at noon with Rev. Steve Rasmussen officiating.

Burial will follow at Union Chapel Cemetery.
