The following is a list of upcoming area events as provided to The Brazil Times:

Mobile Food Pantry

The Catholic Charities mobile food pantry will take place the second Tuesday of every month from 10 a.m. to noon at the Bowling Green community building.

Scheduled Meetings

The Clay County Local Emergency Planning Committee will conduct its regular 2012 meetings prior to the Clay County Fire Chief's Association at 6 p.m., with the chief's meetings at 7 p.m., during the following dates:

* Feb. 22 -- At the Poland Fire House,

* May 15 -- At the Dick Johnson Fire House,

* Aug. 21 -- At the Van Buren Fire House, and

* Nov. 20 -- At the Posey Township Fire House.

Dance! Dance!

The YMCA of Clay County will conduct a youth dance Friday for sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders.

The dance will begin at 8 p.m., and end at 10:30 p.m. Cost to attend is $5.

Breakfast!

The Reelsville Volunteer Fire Department will conduct its monthly breakfast Saturday, Feb. 11, from 7-11 a.m.

Meeting Scheduled

The Popcorn Festival of Clay County will meet Monday, Feb. 13, at 6 p.m., at Brazil City Hall Council Chambers, in its first meeting of the year.

The organization has scheduled to meet at 6 p.m., during the second Monday of each month.

Open House

Habitat for Humanity of Clay County recently announced it will conduct a dedication ceremony and open house for the Mary Ann Hofmann family home.

The event will take place from 2-4 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 12, at 518 E. Ridge St., Brazil.

The community is invited to attend and tour the home.

Refreshments will be served following the dedication ceremony.

Gardener Courses

Classes for the Purdue Master Gardeners course will begin Feb. 13, and conclude May 14.

Cost for the program is $115, which covers course materials, speakers and a copy of the New Purdue Master Gardener book that was recently created.

Workshop

Ivy Tech Community College will conduct a workshop regarding financial aid at the Linking Education to Adult, Adolescents and Preschoolers (LEAAP) Center, 501 E. Jackson St., Brazil.

The event will take place Thursday, Feb. 16, from 9 a.m.-noon, and 3-6 p.m.

Craft Time!

All are invited to the Brazil Public Library Thursday, Feb. 16, at 6 p.m., to make a spring luminary.

Cost of the craft project is $3. Those interested in attending must pre-register and prepay for the event.

Pancakes!

The Clay County Boy Scout Troop 101 will conduct a Pancake Breakfast and Winter Bazaar from 6:30-10 a.m., Feb. 18.

The event will take place at the Brazil National Guard Armory, 970 W. Craig Ave., Brazil.

Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children (5-under).

All funds from the event will be used to send Scouts from Troop 101 to summer camp.

Dinner Time!

The Northview High School Band Boosters will serve a chicken and noodle dinner as part of the school band program's annual pops concert.

The event will take place from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 19, at the high school cafeteria.

Cost is $6.50 for adults and $4.25 for children 10-under. Children 2-under will be admitted free.

The event will also include performances at 12:30 p.m., 1:30 and 2:30, in the high school auditorium.

Cornhole!

The Clay County Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a Cornhole Tournament Thursday, Feb. 23, at the Brazil Elks Lodge.

Poetry Competition

Wabash Valley Outdoor Sculpture Collection and Arts Illiana recently announced it is accepting entries for the 2012 Max Ehrmann Poetry Competition.

Entries must be mailed or delivered by Feb. 24.

Fundraiser Set

Serving On The Streets (S.O.S.) will conduct a silent auction fundraiser Friday, March 2, at 7 p.m., at North Clay Middle School.

All proceeds from the event will go to help S.O.S. in its efforts to obtain a Community Focus Fund Grant for the renovation of the old Brazil High School Gymnasium.
