I've never been a big fan of what I would refer to as a "manufactured holiday."
I would classify Valentine's Day as one of these.
Still, it's an important day for many.
But I would rather tell the special person in my life I love them on a daily basis. I don't need an additional day to help me remember this.
I made a commitment to Merry years ago and will cherish that commitment.
Sure, we get into "situations" where life can be difficult.
But I wouldn't have it any other way.
There's no one else I could imagine seeing every day.
There's no one else I would rather spend evenings with at the dinner table.
There's no one else on this planet who I would rather be with.
The two of us created the greatest gift anyone could have.
And he's just as important to me as Merry is.
I love coming home from work and seeing him on the floor, playing away like there is no tomorrow.
Every time I walk through the door, he gets this big smile on his face.
While he has enjoyed playing with "Mama," 'Da" is home and he's ready for some rough-housin'.
I love Merry and James David more than life itself.
Life wouldn't be the same without both of them.
It wouldn't feel right waking up at 5 in the morning if I couldn't lay next to James David while he got a few extra winks as "Mama" got ready for the day.
It wouldn't feel right if I came home late in the evening to find both of them laying in bed.
So, I guess this is my Valentine to the both of them.
I hope all of you have someone you can spend time with Tuesday evening. I hope you get the chocolates, cards, flowers, dinners, etc.
Anything you want.
But I just want an evening with the two most important people on the planet.
My wife and son.
