Assistance available for heating season

The Energy Assistance Program of Western Indiana Community Action Agency, Inc., has remaining funding available for low-income families which have not yet received assistance for the 2011-12 heating season.

In Clay and Putnam counties, applications will be taken by appointment only. Those interested may schedule an appointment by calling 443-0122, Monday-Friday, from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. The local office is closed from noon-1 p.m. The local office is at 800 W. Jackson St., Brazil.

Those interested in Putnam County may call 1-765-653-4017 from the same times. The Putnam County office is located at 620 Tennessee St., Greencastle.

All applicants must bring the following documentation in order to apply for assistance:

* Verification of income for all household members for the past 12 months,

* Social Security cards for all household members,

* Current household heating and electric bills, and

* A copy of lease/rent agreement if applicable.
