Lady Eels head to regionals

CLAY CITY -- For the third year in a row, the Clay City High School girls' basketball squad will face Jac-Cen-Del in the second game of the morning session of the Class A Southwestern (Shelby) Regional.

Tip-off for the game is scheduled for noon, Saturday. The first game of regional action Saturday will feature University against Southwestern (Shelby) at 10 a.m.

The regional championship game is set for 8 p.m.

Tickets for the regional contest will be on sale Wednesday at Clay City High School. They will be on sale until Friday, from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Tickets will also be available during the Clay City boys' basketball game Friday against the Northview Knights.

According to Clay City administrators, only pre-sale tickets that are available are "season" tickets, which are good for all three games Saturday. Cost is $9.

Fan buses will be available for those wishing to use them. Sign-ups will be available at the high school main office all week until 3 p.m. Cost is $5.

Fan buses will stop at an outlet mall in Edinburgh for food as well, between sessions. The buses are scheduled to leave the high school at 8:30 a.m., Saturday.

A community pep session has been tentatively scheduled for 1:45 p.m., Friday, in the Eel Dome. All are invited.

The team will leave for regional competition at 2:30 p.m., Friday.

Notes: The Clay City boys' basketball home game Friday against Northview has been designated as "Support the Troops Night," sponsored by the CCHS boys' team and student council. Non-perishable items will be collected at the doors and will be sent to troops overseas.

Directions to Southwestern Jr./Sr. High School

The following are directions to Southwestern Jr./Sr. High School provided by Clay City High School administrators:

* Take Interstate-70 east to I-65 south,

* Take I-65 south to the Edinburgh/Flat Rock exit. Turn left (away from Edinburgh) and go east on State Road 252 for three miles to 500 West, then turn left on 500 W., go north to 600 S., turn right on 600 S., and go east. The school is approximately one mile down the road on the left.

According to officials, the round-trip is approximately 100 miles.
