INDIANAPOLIS -- Northview senior Aaron See is an all-state wrestler after he pinned his opponent in round one of the IHSAA Individual State Finals held at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Friday night.
See was able to overpower Greenfield-Central's Austin Gearlds at the 4:40 mark of his match to pin the Cougars senior and advance into today's quarterfinal round. The Knights' competitor will wrestle three more matches this afternoon as he begins the day against unbeaten Seth Biberstine of Southern Wells, who defeated Merrillville's Michael Nickson via pin in 1:44.
Terre Haute South is also represented in the quarterfinals after 160-pound senior Tsali Lough (45-2) defeated his opening round opponent, Damian Gomez (29-9) of Hammond Noll by a 5-4 decision. Lough will take on Leo's Isaac Steury (37-2), who knocked off New Palestine's Connor Robinson in a 10-5 decision. Greencastle's Carter Lewis didn't fare as well as he came out on the short end of a 15-6 major decision against Merrillville's Darryl Peppers.
Competition continues today as quarterfinal action begins at 9:30 a.m.
followed by semifinals. Consolations are slated for 5 p.m. followed by the finals at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $8.
