She was born May 11, 1952, in Clay County, the daughter of Jim Gerber and Mabel Johnson Gerber.
She graduated from Van Buren High School, class of 1970.
On Aug. 25, 1985, she married Delbert R. Cox. He survives.
In the past, she worked at Movie Gallery and at the BP Gas Station, but for the past several years, she has been at home.
She loved reading, bird watching and feeding. Plus, she enjoyed feeding corn to the squirrels.
She was active in several organizations, including American Legion Post No. 2, V.F.W. No. 1127, the Marine Corp League and Clay Youth League. She was very active in the Brazil Moose Lodge and the Wabash Valley Amateur Radio Club.
She was preceded in death by stepson, Brian Cox, in 1967, and her grandparents James and Mary Johnson, and Roy and Ruth Gerber.
Survivors include her husband Delbert Cox, Brazil, Brad Cox, Billie Jo Thompson (Todd), Brazil, Karen Cass (James), Brazil, Chris Cox (Lori), Greenville, S.C., and Barry Cox (Carolyn), Kentucky, 18 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, sisters Karen Stearley (Eric), Janet Little (Steve), Donna Raines (Jim), Lisa Taylor (Gretta), and Jamie Chrisman (Doug), many nieces and nephews and extended family.
Services will take place Thursday, at 1 p.m., at Lawson-Miller Chapel, with Pastor Steve Brattain officiating.
Burial will follow at Calcutta Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday, from 4-8 p.m., with a tribute from the women of the American Legion Post No. 2, and V.F.W. No. 1127, at 6:30 p.m., followed by the Women of the Moose Lodge.
