Beef Tagging Day scheduled for March 17

Those interested in showing beef or a dairy steer at the 2012 Clay County 4-H Fair should be aware of 4-H Beef Tagging Day.

The event will take place from 9 a.m.-noon, Saturday, March 17, at the Clay County 4-H Fairgrounds Beef Barn.

All steers (beef and dairy) and non-registered heifers are required to be weighed and tagged.

Those showing at the Indiana State Fair must have an RFID tag.

There is a fee of $1 per head to weigh and tag an animal.

Those with an animal RFID tagged, cost will be $5 per RFID tag.

The fees must be paid when the animals are tagged.

Those attending are asked to bring their signed beef enrollment form and premise identification number.
