During its bi-weekly meeting Wednesday afternoon, Northview High School (NHS) Youth for the Community Committee (YCC) club members discussed protocol for their upcoming inaugural ceremony.

The official YCC inauguration ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 25, at 1 p.m., at the Lakehouse Restaurant located on N. County Road 425 W.

Recently, the YCC placed all its legislative leaders, and the ceremony will make leadership roles official.

YCC began when Northview High School students said they wanted to start a club that functions like the legislative and executive branches in a democratic government, and their mission is to provide service to the community.

After a nomination process was completed, eight of 34 YCC members unanimously voted, by a show of hands, to elect NHS students in the following senate positions: Miranda Ault, District 1 Senator, Evan Pierce, District 2 Senator, Taylor Dickenson, District 3 Senator, and Chandler Damon, District 4 Senator.

The districts encompass:

* First -- Northern Brazil and Carbon,

* Second -- Southwestern Brazil and Staunton,

* Third -- Southeastern Brazil and the remaining portion of Southwestern Brazil,

* Fourth -- Northern Harmony, and

* Fifth -- Southern Harmony and Knightsville.

In addition, the YCC also determined its six representative positions according to age group.

YCC officials appointed NHS students Roxii Maxwell for the 13-14 age group, Allie Brown and Jaike Matthews for the 15-16 age group, Dylan Green and Justin Buckingham to the 17-year-old age group and Brandon Rost to the 18-20 age group.

The group's next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, March 7, at 3:30 p.m., at Northview High School in Reberger's classroom, room 108.

Really nice to see a group of youth that are trying to make a difference in a positive way.
