Winter Guard to perform Saturday

The Northview High School Winter Guard will take part in Indiana High School Color Guard Association State Prelims Saturday.

The event will take place at Mooresville High School. Cost to attend is $8 for adults and $6 for students/senior citizens.

Saturday's IHSCGA sanctioned event is for guards in World Class, Open Class and Class A. Competing in World Class, Northview will perform at 8:10 p.m.

Other guards competing in World Class Saturday include Avon (8 p.m.), Warren Central (8:20), Lawrence Central (8:30), Carmel (8:40) and Center Grove (8:50).

The IHSCGA State Finals will take place March 17, at Center Grove High School.

Winter guards that compete in Cadet Class, Regional A Class and Class AA do not compete for scores, but rather for ratings. All guards that compete in these three classes will compete March 10, at Franklin Central or Decatur Central.

North Clay will take part in a contest at Franklin Central. The group will perform at 11:42 a.m. Cadet Class competition is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.

In addition, Clay City -- which takes part in Regional A competition -- will compete at Decatur Central March 10. Clay City will perform at 3 p.m.

The Northview Indoor Percussion unit will also compete Saturday at Corydon Central in an Indiana Percussion Association sanctioned event.

Competing in the Scholastic A Marching Class, Northview will perform at 7:27 p.m. Other schools competing include Silver Creek, New Albany, South Central, Corydon Central and North Harrison.

Cost to attend is $6 for adults and $4 for students.
